Cleansing

In many cultures, there exists a belief in spiritual attacks, curses, or the heavy weight of another’s ill intent. The cleansing ritual is a traditional response to such perceptions. It is not an admission that such forces are objectively real, but a recognition that the person seeking help feels burdened by them.

The session may involve:

  • Symbolic washing or bathing with specially prepared waters.
  • The burning of protective herbs or resins.
  • Prayers, chants, or invocations from the tradition.
  • The creation of a personal protective talisman.

The goal is to help the individual feel lighter, safer, and more in control of their own spiritual space. The ritual is a cultural tool, not a supernatural claim. Psychological relief often follows when a person takes symbolic action to confront what they fear.
